By supporting Home-Start you are helping struggling parents give their children a better start in life.
Family life can be hard and challenging for many parents. Loneliness, relationship breakdown, bereavement, physical and mental illness or even multiple births can have a profound effect on families.
With your help, Home-Start can be there to help parents cope, to help them towards independence and a better future.
Home-Start depends heavily on donations from companies, charitable trusts and people like you to fund our work with parents and children.

The Difference Home-Start Makes
When Home-Start support is concluded the family is asked to fill out an evaluation form. Here are just a few of the comments made from families in Bristol and South Gloucestershire about the volunteer who supported them:
‘We loved her and our children loved her, she is like another addition to our family. The kids knew what days she was coming and were always excited. It was as great for them as it was for me.’
‘My volunteer was easy to be around and very flexible, happy to help out where she could… very helpful in doing things with my son that I couldn’t do on my own such as go to the shops/library/park or having him entertained while I got some jobs done.’
Help Us with ‘Giveacar’
Giveacar is a UK based fundraising organisation that specialises in donating unwanted and scrap cars to charitable causes throughout the world, including Home-Start Bristol.
They provide a FREE service which is available throughout the UK, and can work with you hand-in-hand in the following ways:
- They can arrange the collection of the vehicle;
- Depending on its age and condition, they can either send it for environmentally safe disposal and recycling at an Authorised Treatment Facility, or to a salvage auction;
This means that a large portion of the proceeds are donated to a nominated charity of the vehicle owner’s choice!
Since Giveacar was set up in 2010, the organisation has already raised over £450,000 for over 500 charities!
